Kyle Massey and Carol Kane Join FOX's 'Gotham'

FOX's Gotham is adding a Disney Channel and Dancing With the Stars alum, and an Oscar-nominated actress most recently seen on HBO's Girls and FX's Anger Management.

Kyle Massey has been cast as Macky, a "neglected/abused kid who lives on the streets of Gotham." Massey, an actor/singer who made waves in 2010 as runner-up on Dancing With the Stars Season 11, was last seen in the 2012 series Weird Girl. This Gotham role marks his return to network television.

Kane, meanwhile, has a showier role. The actress, nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1975's Hester Street, will play the recurring role of Gertrud Kapelput, mother of Oswald Cobblepot a.k.a The Penguin (played by The Walking Dead alum Robin Lord Taylor), according to TVLine.com.

Kane is a perfect fit, although I suppose one could question the wisdom of including the character at all. However, I'm wondering what Massey's role in all this will be. Is "Macky" a completely original character, or is he a TV adaptation of a pre-existing character yet to be revealed (like Lucius Fox?). I'm just excited to finally get my eyeballs on this series. But we'll all have to wait until Gotham premieres this fall on FOX.
