Krysten Ritter is Marvel's Jessica Jones in New Netflix Series
Marvel has yet to make the announcement official, but sources are declaring it's virtually confirmed: Krysten Ritter will play Jessica Jones for the upcoming Netflix drama of the same name centered on a superheroine who opens up her own detective agency after the effects of PTSD cause her to hang up her superhero costume.
Reportedly, it came down to Ritter and Warm Bodies star Teresa Palmer, as both apparently tested well in "chemistry reads" with The Following's Mike Colter, who is rumored to be playing male lead Luke Cage.
The 13-episode drama is the second in Netflix's four-series deal with Marvel, and is being developed by Melissa Rosenberg (The O.C., The Twilight Saga, Dexter). No other major casting has been announced, but if Ritter's casting is confirmed, this will be her first major series role since the cancellation of Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23, the cult ABC comedy that made her a goddess of snark. In short, she's a damn good fit for the role, and although she's a bit unproven as a lead in drama series, she did a hell of a job in Breaking Bad, suggesting that there's far more to her talent than just being off-color. I can't wait to see Ritter tackle the role, since I think she's going to surprise a lot of people.
But what do you think of the casting? Sound off in the comments!
