Though it hasn't even been a month since ABC canceled Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23, one can hardly fault its former star for lining up a new gig. Three weeks after ABC canceled the low-rated cult favorite, star Krysten Ritter has signed on to star in NBC's adaptation of Leslye Headland's play Assistance.

The comedy centers around Nora, an assistant who attempts to balance her personal life with the demands of a larger-than-life boss. The project is described as "a fast-moving comedy centered on an idealistic 'working girl' assistant who is pulled between her colleague ("work husband") and her real-life fiance while trying to manage a demanding (translation: crazy) boss."

Ritter will play Nora, the magnetic workaholic as rich in sex appeal as she is anxiety. She's wanted to produce films since she was a kid, after falling in love with the craft upon viewing a Jonathan Demme film. Unfortunately, she's now the personal assistant to Daniel Weisinger, a tyrannical boss who expects her to be on call, day and night.

Headland will write the script and executive produce the single-camera comedy, a production of Universal Television, alongside Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Chris Henchy and Owen Burke.
