Kris Allen Day
So in my mind, I had a Romeo and Juliet moment with Kris Allen today. Hahaha. So let's start from the beginning.
I was so tired last night after the "date", so I finished up some quick blogging then went to bed at 11 PM. I woke up at 6:15 since I wanted to line up for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon early. I realized that I was still a mess, so instead of rushing, I made sure I had a bit of breakfast and showered. I arrived at NBC at 7:30 AM. I was standby fan #2 (and my handler Jodi - LOL - was #3). We also met a nice girl named Amy who was fan #1. Up to about 8:30 AM, there were just 6 of us in line. LOL So yeah, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon is not a hot ticket. In fact, when we went back to NBC at 3:45, people got standby ticket #44 -- and they still got in.
Also, we saw Senator Schumer of New York go to his limo. He asked me what we were doing in line for and I said to get tickets for Fallon. And he said he hoped we did.
Anyway, after getting our standby tickets at 9 AM, Jodi went to Regis and Kelly for her Adam Lambert fix -- and I headed to Fox for Mike and Juliet. It was an awful wait and not a good idea. However, I did wave to Kris Allen at the window completely distracting his interview here. At about 10:30 Adam Lambert whizzed by and my camera did not work. And so we waited hoping for now both Kris and Adam. Unfortunately, at 11:15 I was already too pissed off. For one thing, every staff member there including the host Mike -- lied to us outside. They said that Kris "had already left" and "may have gone through the basement or catwalk to the other building". I did not believe them, but to be constantly lied to in this manner really got to me and I did not want to deal with it anymore. So I left. I find out later from Bill who I met there, that Kris Allen did come out about 30 minutes after I left and then Adam Lambert an hour later (although he did not get pictures). Will never go to Mike and Juliet ever again.
Went home, blogged a little, and then I completely forgot that I had to be back at NBC by 3:45. Argh. So rush. But I made it. And then this long long long process of getting in. At first we were just audience, but then we got upgraded to groupie in the background for the musical guest performance The-Dream. Cool!
At 5 PM or so, I passed by the metal detector -- and then I saw Kris Allen going in. I called out to him. He looked back and said: "It's Rickey!" And then my moment of bliss was completely disrupted by the security guard raising his voice demanding I look back at him to get my bag and sweater. WTF. Anyway... it was like OMG -- he knows me! Aaaaaaaaa!
We were now part of the studio audience. I've only been in the studio once before so this was great. Nice to actually be the "applause" when the applause light comes on. Jimmy Fallon's band the Roots were awesome btw. First guest: Brooke Shields. So beautiful. It started out fine, but when she started talking about Tupperware saving lives, she lost everyone. And then Kris Allen! Woohoo! It was a great interview. Jimmy joked about Kris' "All She Wants To Do Is Dance", and then he requested Kris to sing "Heartless". It was amazing. I can't wait to make an MP3 of it later.
I was happy because when the third guest came up, Kris stayed on the couch, yay! Then after that segment, we went down to the stage to be the groupies in the background. While headed there I looked at Kris then he talked to me! I signaled that we were going to the stage, and he said it was cool or something like that. Omigosh, he really knew who I was. Who does that? Anoop, Lil and Allison didn't know me -- but Kris Allen did -- and it's only been one week since the Finale. Speechless.
The-Dream was hilarious as from out of nowhere background dancers started doing their thing. LOL
And so the show ended and we had to rush out so we could catch Kris Allen come out. I was really hoping he would stop for a picture. After a short wait, I spotted him in the lobby but he wasn't allowed to take pictures anymore! I felt bad and he turned around to me and shook my hand and was whisked away.
So tragic. Hahaha. I actually wanted to cry for a bit, but we will still see him tomorrow so I am still optimistic. I will bring some Sexy Face paddles.
In other news, I accidentally found out where their hotel is while I was going home in a cab. Tempting, but no.
Thank you for saving Kris Allen! And yes, I dare say I could be his #1 fan.
