Kris Allen beats Adam Lambert on iTunes

Kris Allen won the first battle of music sales with Adam Lambert today.
No Boundaries was #2, followed by Heartless at #5 and Ain't No Sunshine at #9. A second copy of Heartless was at #19.
Adam Lambert's best song was Mad World which landed at #7. His other hits included A Change is Gonna Come at #11 and No Boundaries at #20.
David Cook's Permanent which he performed on the Idol Finale was at #6.
What a difference a day makes -- and winning the title. I think that Adam Lambert was a strong seller for weeks, but it looks like Kris Allen is enjoying a surge in popularity right now after the win. Mad World was the best selling Idol song at the beginning of the day.
In the past, when iTunes opened up their charts after the Finale we saw some "in your face" results from the non-winners a few days later. Blake Lewis outsold Jordin Sparks, and Chris Daughtry outsold Taylor Hicks.
Last year however David Cook dominated David Archuleta in iTunes sales after the Finale.
These numbers are a bit surprising to me, as I thought that Adam Lambert was the most popular contestant this season. It looks like I have to agree with our guest blogger Howard on this one. The producers may have been pimping Adam Lambert to win simply because it was Kris Allen who was the unstoppable force all along.
