"Kissing A Fool" - Michael Bublé vs. George Michael Showdown

For me, the year was 1992. I was on a vacation with my mom, grandparents, and my aunt visiting the California coast. The sky was overcast and even misty at times. The air smelled faintly of rain and the salty smell of the ocean. We had just walked through San Luis Obispo's famous Bubblegum Alley, when over the downtown speaker system, echoed a song that burned into my mind. It was different from the 80s pop I was accustomed to and even different from the new hip-hop music that was making its way into popularity. It wasn't until I got home that I found out the song was called "Kissing A Fool" and was sung by George Michael. From then on, I was a lifelong George Michael fan, but for me, Kissing A Fool is forever etched into the memories of that trip and was my favorite of his songs.
So it was my shock to find out a couple of years ago from my music teach at the time that a cover was done. In fact, she had never even knew there was a previous version, let alone that George Michael had written it. And I must confess it wasn't until I decided to write this post that I actually heard Bublé's version of the song.
While I love the original, I do like the change of venue of Michael Bublé's cover. The big band version is a nice change to the jazzy original without changing too much of the song. He doesn't go up to hit all the high notes, but takes it back down and makes it sensual. I have to admit, I kinda like both, but of course, I have much more history with the original.
What's your take on it? Do you like one version more than another? COMMENT BELOW!
