People Accidentally Publishes Kirk Douglas' Obituary

For the record, 97-year-old actor Kirk Douglas is still alive, which means that People magazine must be super ashamed that they've already published his obituary on their website.

Perhaps trying to get a jump on the actor's death (he'll be 98 next week), the pre-written article was pushed live with the headline: "DO NOT PUB Kirk Douglas Dies."

"Kirk Douglas, one of the few genuine box-office names to emerge just as TV was overtaking American culture in the years right after World War II, died TK TK TK," the article explained, with the TK standing for copy that is yet to come.

The article continued, "He was 97 (DOB 12/9/1916) and had been in good health despite having suffered a debilitating 1996 stroke that rendered his speech difficult."

While it's not uncommon for large magazines to write obituaries for elderly celebrities in advance, they generally don't inadvertently publish them for the internet to see.

No word on who is to blame for the snafu, but all sources point to Spartacus. Whoever that is.
