Kelly Clarkson album sales surge after Ron Paul endorsement

Sales of American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson's album 'Stronger' have skyrocketed on Amazon after she endorsed GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul the other day.

I'm very impressed. Well played Kelly for tapping the Ron Paul Libertarians as your new market for music!

Sadly, Kelly has angered some fans for supporting Paul -- who is currently being criticized in the media for newsletters he published containing racist and homophobic content. How can she endorse someone without fully vetting? She'll now be attached to him throughout the campaign -- good and bad.

From Mediaite:

Kelly Clarkson has been receiving a lot of flak for making an official 2012 presidential race endorsement earlier this week– that trophy going to Rep. Ron Paul. And while he had to fight a lot of vitriol from opponents, it appears Rep. Paul fans are displaying their trademark loyalty to her in record sales– or, at least, she reminded America that she exists enough to score a 192% rise in sales in the past 24 hours on Amazon.com.

Given the significant boost in sales for the singer, one wonders whether other Republican public figures will try to court the Rep. Paul constituency, too.
