Katie Couric Preview Reveals 'American Idol' Judges

Katie Couric may have let slip the final American Idol judging panel in the preview for the Friday, September 14 episode of her talk show.  Katie reportedly confirms the panel during her interview with Jennifer Lopez.

According to Zap2It, the American Idol team is expected to make the official announcement about the final judging panel on Friday, but Couric may have let the cat out of the bag a bit early by previewing an interview with Jennifer Lopez, where she appears to confirm who will be on the panel.

Interview:

KC: What do you think about the new group of judges?
JL:  Did they announce?
KC: Yeah.
JL:  Who is it?
KC: Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and Randy [Jackson]. Randy's back.
JL:  Randy is! Oh thank god. I love Randy. I'm glad he's doing it.
KC: What do you think of that group? That's sort of interesting, don't you think?
JL:  That's an eclectic group.
KC: Yeah!
JL: Yeah it is.
KC: I'm glad. I think it will be fun to have Keith Urban there.
JL: I think they all have something really different to offer so it should be interesting.

If Katie does turn out to have the inside scoop, looks like we're going to get the panel everyone has been predicting ever since news that Randy would stay on the panel after all broke.  There's certainly plenty of train wreck potential with Minaj on the panel, but there's also plenty of meh potential with Randy and Urban.

What do you think?  Will this panel affect your decision to watch the veteran singing competition?

Here's the video promo for the episode, but it does not contain the American Idol judge discussion:
