Kanye West Pleads Not Guilty in Battery Case

Kanye West is in a bit of legal trouble, but the rapper is looking to fight the charges against him in a court of law.

West has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor battery and attempted grand theft in the case of his scuffle with a paparazzo in July. The rapper was charged in September with two misdemeanors stemming from the altercation at Los Angeles International Airport, in which photographer Daniel Ramos claimed West punched him and wrestled his camera away from him in an unprovoked attack.

Attorney Blair Berk entered the not guilty plea on West’s behalf yesterday in a Los Angeles court. Prosecutors reportedly chose to pursue the misdemeanors instead of filing felony charges. However, West is still looking at a rough time: each misdemeanor carries up to six months in jail or a $1,000 fine. For Yeezy's sake, let's hope for the fine. (Unless you're Team Ramos and think Kanye's a jerk. Of course, there's also Team 'To Hell With Both These Guys,' which is the option of choice for those who dislike self-serious rappers and paparazzi in equal measure)
