A new project is in the works for Harold & Kumar star Kal Penn.

Penn has signed on to star in Battle Creek, the new CBS detective drama from Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan and House creator David Shore. Based on a 2002 spec script, the drama centers on "a detective and FBI agent with very different worldviews who are teamed up. Together, they must answer the question: Is cynicism, guile and deception enough to clean up the semi-mean streets of Battle Creek, Mich., in the face of a complete lack of resources; or is the exact opposite true -- it takes naivete, trust and a boatload of resources?"

Penn will play a local detective suspicious of the new FBI agent. The casting reteams Penn with executive producer David Shore, with whom the actor worked for nearly 40 episodes of FOX's House.

Gilligan penned the first draft while Shore updated the script. Both will executive produce alongside Breaking Bad's Mark Johnson, with Shore serving as showrunner for the series, which is expected to premiere this fall on CBS.

If this even comes close to touching the quality of Breaking Bad, I'm all-in!
