Justin Hartley Is the New Adam Newman on 'The Young and the Restless'
Daytime soap operas have a long history of recastings, so it should come as no surprise that The Young and the Restless is getting a new Adam Newman (a new...man?), following the abrupt departure of Michael Muhney last December.
The role has gone to Justin Hartley, a veteran of Smallville, Revenge, and Mistresses. This marks Hartley's return to daytime soaps, as his first notable television role was as Nicholas Foxworth "Fox" Crane on Passions, a role he had for four years (from 2002-2006).
Hartley will make his debut on The Young and the Restless this fall during the lucrative, busy November sweeps period. This is an ideal time to give Hartley the spotlight, since sweeps generally means a show is going to put its best (or, in the case of dramas, craziest) foot forward.
I think this is some great casting, honestly. Hartley is an underrated talent whose profile has really risen over the past two years. Seriously, dude is everywhere. So why not here?
