Justin Bieber, Airto Edmundo, Sheena Melwani - YouTube Spotlight - 05/14/2010

Justin Bieber

Before Justin Bieber blew up and became the superstar that he is today, he was kidrauhl, a YouTube star that would cover songs by Lil Bow Wow, Ne-Yo, Alicia Keys and others. The Bieber, at the time of many of his first videos, was barely entering his teen years but was performing before live audiences. His mother would post his performances on YouTube for those who could not attend thus getting him noticed by Scooter Braun of So So Def Recordings and the rest is history. At the time of this writing, his YouTube account is #1 Most Subscribed of All Time in Canada and #25 Most Subscribed of All Time on YouTube. He is also the first recording artist to have seven songs from a debut album land on the Billboard's Hot 100 Chart. He is arguably the most successful YouTube star of all time.

Airto Edmundo

Airto (eye-air-too) Edmundo is described as a "soulwriter". This 24 year old singer/songwriter from The Netherlands has over 50,000 subscribers and close to 10 million upload views on YouTube and is ranked #6 for Most Subscribed (All Time) in the Musicians in The Netherlands. There is no question why when you first hear his performances. His ability to change a song and make it his own can be heard in the many songs he has covered over the course of four years he has been on YouTube. Not only cover, he has performed his own songs and even collaborated with other singer/songwriters to create stunning performances.

Sheena Melwani

I love Sheena Melwani! Her profile states that Sheena "is a media artist, with roots as a singer and songwriter" and her voice and style keeps bringing the viewers back. She most recently appeared in the reproduction of We Are The World For Haiti (YouTube Edition). She also broadcasts her own online video chat from sheenamelwani.tv. Her debut album is expected to be released this year. Her YouTube channel has had almost 9.5 million upload views since going live in November of 2007. She is ranked #19 Most Subscribed Musician of All Time in Canada on YouTube.
