Judi Dench: I Am Not Going Blind
Reports circulated over the weekend that British actress Judi Dench is losing her eyesight. She's been diagnosed with macular dengeneration which is an age-related condition that affects eyesight. She told the press that she has other people read scripts to her.
However, in a new interview with Reuters, she wants everyone to know she is alright. From the sounds of it, she's remaining quite optimistic despite the condition. Go Judi!
She said:"In response to the numerous articles in the media concerning my eye condition - macular degeneration - I do not wish for this to be overblown."More from Reuters:
"This condition is something that thousands and thousands of people all over the world are having to contend with. It's something that I have learnt to cope with and adapt to - and it will not lead to blindness."According to Britain's National Health Service (NHS), just under a third of Britons aged 75 or over have signs of macular degeneration, a painless condition that erodes central vision and leaves peripheral sight unaffected.
There are two forms of the condition: "dry", which leaves people with blurry central vision, and "wet", a more serious type which can cause blindspots.
