AMERICAN IDOL WINNER JORDIN SPARKS LENDS SUPPORT TO PBS KIDS GO! WRITERS CONTEST
American Idol Season 6 winner Jordin Sparks is lending her voice to support a different kind of competition – the PBS KIDS GO! Writers Contest. In a taped message that can be viewed at the Contest Web site on ReadyToLearnReading.org, the singer-songwriter talks about the influence of writing in her life.
Ms. Sparks’ message lends promotional support to the PBS KIDS GO! Writers Contest, a national-local contest designed to advance children’s reading skills through hands-on, active learning. The Contest, sponsored by PBS KIDS GO! and WNED-TV Buffalo/Toronto, encourages children in grades K-3 in communities across the country to celebrate the power of creating stories and illustrations by submitting their original work. A panel of America’s foremost children’s authors, illustrators and content experts will serve as final judges in the PBS KIDS GO! Writers Contest. The national Contest winners are expected to be named and posted to the Contest Web site in July 2010.
