Jonnis E-mailed Back
I know this is a low point in rickey.org history, but since nothin's really going on right now and my little devil horns are sprouting, I've decided to post. Jonnis e-mailed me back after I posted his e-mail yesterday. Poor guy. I think he's still suffering from post-TV-competition shock. One of the things he said was he was writing not only for himself but for all the other people on So You Think You Can Dance? who I quote and quote insulted. First of all, another WTF moment... and then, who? Brian Friedman and his beautiful straight hair? Lauren Sanchez and her twitching boob job? Those were classics!
Here's Jonnis' e-mail (he said it was ok), and and my kick-ass reply! I spent a thoughtful hour writing it, might as well put it to good use:
Subject: actually you can be funny
you are funny when you try to put people down and actually think that you
are so witty when you're doing it. if i wanted to extend my thirty seconds
of fame, (thanks for saying minute but we both know it wasn't that long) i
wouldn't have wrote to you in a personal email, i would have posted it so
all ten people could read it. thank you for letting everyone know how i
feel, but i am dissapointed that you couldn't write back to me like a real
person. i would still like a reply, but i don't expect much, or anything
from you.you've only wrote one comment about me that i didn't like, but my email
wasn't just written for me. i don't know if you saw how i close i was with
everyone on the show, actually i don't care if someone like you noticed me
on the show at all, but i wrote that email for everyone you insulted on the
show. most of what i was saying is, don't be so spiteful towards people
just because for that moment you don't like them. and seeing how surprized
you were when you got my email, i don't think you like it when people are
spiteful either. difference is, you deserved that. well i am done wasting
your time cause we both know that you are going to read this and laugh, but
atleast i tried.
feel free to do what you want with this message, hopefully you take it the
right wayblah blah blah

Hey Jonnis!
I'm sorry to hear that you've been hurt in some way by some of the comments on my blog. But you have to be realistic with what's happening here. You were on a television show! And rickey.org is flocked by fans... fans who would naturally have strong opinions.
With regards to my blog, I've had my fair share of critics, but the way I react always depends on my mood really. Sometimes I engage them, but I've learned, now that the blog has become popular outside of the five friends I have, to just screen them out. It's a waste of time because you can't please everybody -- and I'm not blogging to please everybody or anybody for that matter. I feel very blessed that the overwhelming reception, so many thousands of visitors later, has been positive. I tried to pinpoint why in the past, maybe there's a secret formula, but I believe that its because I constantly try to be true to who I am. That's why your initial e-mail was quite surprising -- what? you want me to change the way I think? there's something wrong with my writing style? Furthermore, who is giving me this advice? A contestant who placed low on a TV competition? Did you really think it would be taken seriously?
One of the things I've learned in my life is that there will be people out there who, no matter what I do, will not like me/hate me simply for who I am. There's nothing I can do to change them, and I certainly will not change myself just to be liked.
I really have no opinion of you Jonnis. And though that may be painful to hear, it's the truth.
Good luck.
Rickey
