Jonathan Horton and Rebecca Bross Win Visa Championships

Horton battled with Danell Leyva of Miami, Fla./Universal Gymnastics, for the lead. Horton led the first day of competition and the first rotation of finals, but Leyva took over the lead in rotations two through four. After a stellar still rings routine, which scored a 16.200, Horton regained the lead over Leyva with scores of 165.600 to 164.650. Horton clinched the title on his last event, vault, scoring a 16.050 for his handspring double front. Horton’s two-day event total was 181.650 to Leyva’s 179.350.
I was rooting for Jonathan for most of the meet but I have to say that Danell and his dad were really entertaining to watch. I'm also rooting for Chris Brooks to medal.
Rebecca Bross of Plano, Texas, won her first Visa Championships all-around title with a score of 120.300 at the 2010 Visa Championships at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn. She also took top honors on both the balance beam and uneven bars, with a silver medal for the floor exercise. 2008 Olympic team silver-medalist Alicia Sacramone of Winchester, Mass., became the first U.S. women to win five national vault titles.
Mattie Larson of Los Angeles, Calif./All Olympia, finished second in the all-around with a score of 117.00 and grabbed the floor title with a score of 30.350. Larson’s floor routine included a double layout mount, a triple full, a two-and-a-half twist to punch layout front and a double pike dismount. Larson also was third on bars with a score of 29.000.
Alexandra Raisman of Needham, Mass./Brestyan’s Gymnastics, claimed the bronze medal in the all-around with a score of 115.650, and finished third on beam and floor with scores of 28.300 and 29.500, respectively.
I remember watching Rebecca fall at last year's competition and gasping out loud. I'm glad she could come back and win this year even if Bridget Sloan couldn't compete due to injury. I also cheered when Rickey.org's favorite wifey Alicia Sacramone came out of retirement to kick some ass:
Sacramone, who trains at Brestyan's, won her fifth national vault crown with a combined average of 30.675, competing a front handspring front Rudi and a double-twisting Yurchenko. She also was second on beam with a score of 29.800.
