Jon Hamm wishes people would stop talking about his penis

Jon Hamm is huge. You know, as an actor -- but also for...other reasons.

From headlines like "Jon Hamm’s Penis is Too Big for Clothes, Needs Airbrushing" by The New York Daily News, to an entire Tumblr dedicated to "Jon Hamm's Wang", the Mad Men actor has gotten more press for his alleged endowment than for the upcoming sixth season of the hit AMC series, which premieres next Sunday. While most men would love to have the world assuming that they're hung like a can of Monster, Hamm isn't exactly thrilled about all the attention.

"Most of it's tongue-in-cheek," he tells Rolling Stone contributing editor Josh Eells in his cover story for the magazine. "But it is a little rude. It just speaks to a broader freedom that people feel like they have - a prurience."

It all started when several websites picked up on a bulge in Hamm's pants in certain photos, culminating in the above link in which the The New York Daily News spoke to an "AMC insider" who confessed that it was creating problems on-set. "The season takes place in the 1960s, where the pants are very tight and leave little to the imagination," said the anonymous source. "John's impressive anatomy is so distracting that they politely insisted on underwear."

The meme took off, resulting in such sites as the aforementioned "Jon Hamm's Wang" which, granted, is hardly the most ridiculous use of Tumblr. Regardless, Hamm doesn't really see the humor.

"They're called 'privates' for a reason," he says. "I'm wearing pants, for f***'s sake. Lay off. I mean, it's not like I'm a f***ing lead miner. There are harder jobs in the world. But when people feel the freedom to create Tumblr accounts about my c***, I feel like that wasn't part of the deal ... But whatever. I guess it's better than being called out for the opposite."

So there you go. Rich, famous, talented, handsome, packing heat like summertime. Sometimes you really can have it all.
