Comedian + 'Seinfeld' Guest Star John Pinette Dead at 50

John Pinette, better known as that guy whose carjacking helped set off the events in the Seinfeld finale, died of "natural causes" at the age of 50 on Saturday (April 5).

The comedian was found in his hotel room in the Sheraton in Pittsburgh where he was staying for a family function.

His doctor, who said Pinette suffered from both heart disease and liver failure, confirmed that Pinette died of natural causes.

A stand-up comedian, Pinette checked into rehab last year for troubles with prescription drug abuse and took a break from the stage after several weight loss surgeries.

Just one day before his death he was ready to get back in the game, promoting several shows at the Ontario Improv from April 10-14.

Said Pinette's longtime manager of his passing, "The sadness of this entire event is that for he first time in his life he was healthy, he was alive. He'd just turned 50 and John was on top of his game."
