The fabulous news was announced today (Nov. 20), when it was revealed the Mitchell will don the iconic wig and fishnets once more on Jan. 21 and perform for eight full weeks.
"I’m having fun going through the old show in my mind and thinking about throwing in more ad-libs and rock ’n’ roll like we did downtown," the original Hedwig revealed in an interview.
"I was kind of itching to do it, and if I don’t do it now, I’ll never do it, because I’ll be too old."
When asked how it would compare to Neil Patrick Harris' version of the show (for which he won a Tony award), the actor admitted, "I think it will be more frayed."
The 51-year-old said that he's currently in the process of adjusting the choreography and working to gain more weight and muscle.
As he explained, "Neil climbed all over the place, and also did tricks with the mic, which I’m finding hard to do. And vocally I haven’t sung in a while, so that’s going to be exciting."
Mitchell also revealed that plans are in the works for a Hedwig sequel. You know, eventually.NEXT: Check Out Michael C. Hall in His Hedwig Makeup
