ABC is about to take a star trek into Harkness. Jack Harkness, more specifically.

Lame jokes aside, the rumors are true: John Barrowman has signed on to host ABC's upcoming celebrity singing competition, Sing Your Face Off.

Barrowman, best known as Captain Jack Harkness on Doctor Who and its spin-off, Torchwood, will be joined by judges Darrell Hammond (of Saturday Night Live) and pop singer Debbie Gibson.

The series involves five celebrity contestants taking on the identity of a different music icon each week. The show's contestants include ex-Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach, comedian Jon Lovitz, Toronto Raptors player Landry Fields, Disney Channel actress/singer China Anne McClain and actress Lisa Rinna.

ABC has yet to announce an air date, but prevailing wisdom indicates this as a summer series.
