Joel McHale to Host White House Correspondents’ Dinner

Host of The Soup and star of Community, Joel McHale will be hosting this year's White House Correspondents' Dinner!

The dinner, which takes place on May 3, is an annual event that puts President Obama in the same room as politicians and celebrities to have a bit of a laugh and pretend there are no party lines. Also eat some awesome food.

Announced WHCA president Steven Thomma in a statement about their choice of host, "We’re thrilled that Joel will headline the dinner when we celebrate our centennial."

"He’s sharp, funny, and just the type of comic who can navigate the unique challenge of our dinner, making fun of Democrats, Republicans and especially the news media. Washington can use a little good-natured ribbing."

Last year's host was late night comedian Conan O'Brien. Let's hope Joel can slay it equally well. Or at least as well as Obama.
