Joan Jett Possibly Performing With Nirvana at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Joan Jett just might be headed to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Thursday. But not to pay tribute to her own career. Rather, she is rumored to be fronting Hall of Fame inductees Nirvana for a performance at the ceremony, in lieu of original frontman, the late Kurt Cobain.

All this talk is the result of a hint from Dave Grohl, the Nirvana drummer/Foo Fighters frontman, who shared a photo on the Foo Fighters Instagram page. Featured in the pic is Krist Novoselic’s bass, Pat Smear’s Strat, and Grohl’s drumkit, along with what appears to be Jett’s infamous guitar, Melody Maker. Check out the full photo below via the Foo Fighters Instagram:

If the hint turns out to be true, this wouldn't exactly be unexpected. Jett and Grohl have performed together many times before, including a Jett/Foo Fighters collaboration Late Show With David Letterman in 2011, in addition to Grohl's participation on “Any Weather," a track which appeared on Jett’s 2013 album Unvarnished. So there's precedent for a Jett/Grohl team-up.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is on Thursday, with Nirvana being inducted by
Michael Stipe, frontman for R.E.M. and a close friend of Cobain. Also being inducted this year are KISS, Linda Ronstadt, Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, Peter Gabriel, Hall & Oates and Cat Stevens. It's an incredibly strong lineup, and this performance could prove to be one of the highlights, even with all these huge acts appearing at the ceremony.
