Jim Carrey Pulls Support from 'Kick-Ass 2'

In an unforeseen turn of events, Jim Carrey has withdrawn his support for the upcoming Kick-Ass 2. The movie star, who is set to play a pivotal role in the film, decided that in the wake of the Sandy Hook tragedy, supporting a project that contains vast amounts of graphic violence and bloodshed would not be in line with his beliefs.

Carrey is known advocate for gun-control and has been very vocal about his support for reform in the wake of the shootings. Carrey is also reportedly a fan of the first Kick-Ass film, which helped land him the role in this sequel.

Kick-Ass is a film adaptation of the comic book series by Mark Millar, who seems to support Carrey's decision while still maintaining an opposing view point.
Like Jim, I'm horrified by real life violence (even though I'm Scottish) ... This is fiction… Kick-Ass avoids the usual bloodless body count of most big summer pictures and focuses instead of the CONSEQUENCES of violence, whether it's the ramifications for friends and family or, as we saw in the first movie, Kick-Ass spending six months in hospital after his first street altercation.
