Jet Li Being Treated for Overactive Thyroid

Action star Jet Li was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism back in 2010, but until recently he had been keeping the disease under wraps with medication.

News of his overactive thyroid came to light when Li was taping a talent show in China and he had noticeably gained weight.

Li however is not concerned about his fluctuating weight, explaining that he couldn't exercise on his current medication, joking, "I'm fat, I don't have the time to lose it. It's a fact!"

He continued, "I'm just a regular guy, I'm not Wong Fei Hung, I'm not Huo Yuan Jia, I'm not a hero. I'm just like you."

Despite his recent treatment (hyperthyroidism causes changes in metabolism and heart rate), Li says he plans to work for as long as he's able.

Even though as of late that has been a challenge. As the 50-year-old actor admitted, "I'm in pain, but I'm not suffering. I'm happy."
