There's an Opera About Jesus Told Through Britney Spears Songs

Some intrepid young adults have created an opera about the life of Jesus performed entirely through the discography of Britney Spears entitled SPEARS. Erm, okay then.

A press release (via Hypable) for the show explains the experience as "an original musical that chronicles the life of Jesus Christ, telling the story through the hit music of Britney Spears."

It goes on to say that the show "tugs at the heartstrings of America’s lost twenty-somethings, calling on familiar hits such as ‘Stronger,’ ‘One More Time,’ and ‘Crazy,’ to describe the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ."

In our heads it goes a little something like this:

Stronger than yesterday, now it’s nothing but my way, my cruxifixion isn't killing me no more! I’m stronger!

The show will have two performances on November 7 for investors in hopes of raising money to bring the show to Broadway. Because what New York is really missing is an opera about Jesus Christ told through catchy pop music.
