Jesse Teinaki sang 'Riptide' on The X Factor Australia 2014 Home Visits.

Because it's every bit as impossible to avoid reality talent competitions with Jennifer Lopez overseas as it is stateside, J-Lo is Natalie Bassingthwaighte's guest judge for home visits. And she brings a rather random opinion to what I thought was an absolutely wonderful performance, arguing that while Jesse has a lovely tone, it all feels a bit like something we've heard before. It just seems a bit silly to critique a guy simply for not being the first to have a certain voice. Then again, I understand the necessity of the "compliment sandwich" style of judging during the Home Visits, where every two positives need am awkward, forced negative in the middle. That said, I just couldn't find much wrong with this performance. I loved it, personally. That tone.
