Singer Jerry Vale Dead at 83
Singer Jerry Vale, best known for his distinct voice and covering of the Italian-American classics in the '50s and '60s has passed away at the age of 83.
According to his attorney, Vale (who was already in declining health) died on Sunday (May 18) in his Palm Desert home surrounded by family and friends. In addition to his popular takes on "Volare," ''Innamorata" and "Al Di La," Vale's rendition of the "Star-Spangled Banner" was played at sporting events throughout the '60s.The crooner also starred as himself in both Goodfellas, Casino and the television series The Sopranos.
Vale is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rita, his son Robert and his daughter Paula.
