Jermaine Jones Twitter Account Deleted
As we reported last night, TMZ leaked that someone on the American Idol Top 12 was disqualified and that person would be revealed on tonight's performance show. However, Jermaine Jones revealed on his Twitter that he was no longer on the show just a few minutes after the TMZ leak -- leading us to the conclusion that he was the disqualified contestant.
Two things happened: Jermaine ended up deleting that tweet that he was off the show and TMZ adding a story confirming that Jermaine indeed had been kicked off.
Late last night, Jermaine started retweeting tweets from fans that he had been disqualified and other tweets of support and whatnot. This morning, his entire Twitter account has been deleted.
All the news outlets have reported today that Jermaine is out of the show, so deleting his account does nothing. I'm sure he was ordered to get rid of his account entirely to prevent him from leaking anymore details about the show -- even if the damage has already been done.
Last night, by leaking info to TMZ, the show hoped to capitalize on a mysterious shock elim for tonight which of course blew up in front of their faces by the very person they were hoping to take advantage of.
So instead of the drama of a who's who, we just basically advanced one week into a Top 11 tonight as if nothing happened. Way to spoil Nigel's plans Jermaine.
There is still a lingering question however for tonight: Will there be an elimination? Back in Season 2, when Corey Clark was kicked off for lying about his criminal past, there was no elimination that week, but a double elimination the following week. If they did that this week, we would end up with a Top 9 next week -- negating all the drama for the Top 10 -- which is the cutoff for making it to the summer tour (and money). See what you did Jermaine?
