Jennifer Love Hewitt Joins Cast of 'Criminal Minds' as Series Regular

Despite the cancellation of The Client List, Jennifer Love Hewitt isn't leaving our TV screens just yet. The actress is joining the cast of CBS crime drama Criminal Minds as a series regular.

According to CBS, Hewitt will play undercover agent Kate Callahan, a valuable field agent who worked for the FBI before coming to the Behavioral Analysis Unit.

"We’re thrilled to introduce a new special agent by adding the very talented Jennifer Love Hewitt to our amazing cast," said showrunner and executive producer Erica Messer in a press release. "Many of us on the show have enjoyed working with her over the years and look forward to again. We have exciting storylines planned for her character and the entire BAU team as we head into our 10th season."

Hewitt is an effective on-screen presence, and there's no reason she shouldn't mesh well with the rest of the cast, given how well the Criminal Minds team works as a procedural ensemble. This should give the new season a shot in the arm, which is vital as any show enters double digits in season count. On that note, the new season of Criminal Minds premieres Oct. 1 on CBS.
