Jennifer Lopez: "I Was Homeless" Before Big Break

Jennifer Lopez covers W Magazine

Jennifer Lopez might be one of the world's biggest superstars today, but things weren't always so easy for the singer, dancer, and actress. In fact, in an interview with W Magazine, Lopez states that she was once homeless.

Following her decision to peruse dance full-time, Lopez began butting heads with her mother, who had been hoping her daughter would choose the academic college path as opposed to a life in entertainment. As Lopez explained,
So she and I had a break. I started sleeping on the sofa in the dance studio. I was homeless, but I told her, 'This is what I have to do.’ A few months later, I landed a job dancing in Europe. When I got back, I booked In Living Color. I became a Fly Girl and moved to L.A. It all happened in a year.
Now a mother herself, J-Lo credits her parents' exceptional work ethics for her own drive and ambition. She sets an example for her own children by "doing" as opposed to "saying."
