Aniston plays Claire Simmons in the film, a woman who goes through a car crash that leaves her body riddled with scars. A detail which drew Aniston to the role.

According to the actress, she found the no makeup experience, "so fabulous — so dreamy and empowering and liberating."
"The only time I had to sit in the makeup chair was just for the scars," she shared.
