Jeff Probst Says Lisa Whelchel Struggled With Lying On Survivor Philippines - Video

Jeff Probst says that former The Facts of Life star Lisa Whelchel really struggled with the need to lie during her time on Survivor: Philippines.  Jeff also talks about his new talk show and fatherhood in this two part interview on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.

In part one of the interview, Jeff talks to Jimmy about his new instant family with wife Lisa Ann Russell, who he married in December of last year and his upcoming new talk show, The Jeff Probst show, which debuts September 10.

Probst cites Phil Donahue, Oprah Winfrey and Howard Stern as his talk show host mentors.

In part two, he talks about the new season of Survivor.  Jimmy seems really excited about Blair (Lisa Whelchel) being on the show, which makes me feel a little bit better, because I am unreasonably excited about it myself.  Blair wasn't really my favorite character on the '80s sitcom (I liked Jo & Natalie the best), but I never missed an episode of the show.  I even kept watching after the girls stopped being cute and starting sporting femullets.

Probst said that Whelchel is a huge fan of Survivor and "had what it takes" to win the whole thing, but really struggled with having to lie to get ahead on the show.  Knowing that Whelchel is a "devout Christian," I can't say I'm really surprised.  This show seems to be in love with the "God doesn't want me to lie" story line in recent seasons.  Not one of my more favorite aspects of the show, but I'm still excited to see if Blair has what it takes to win.

Jeff also acknowledged that many fans were bored by the one woman show that resulted after Colton left the show and Kim dominated rest of the last season, so I expect the producers will be working hard to keep things interesting on Survivor: Philippines.
