Nigel advised Phillip to step it up because if they notice that he is getting by because of his "popularity" and not his dancing ability, the judges might be harder on him. But wait: isn't "America's Favorite Dancer" the point of this show? Phillip has stepped it up big time from the very beginning. Him getting to this stage in the competition is like 3 years in the making.
