Jay James sings 'Everybody Hurts' on The X Factor UK 2014 (VIDEO)
Jay James sang 'Everybody Hurts' on The X Factor UK 2014 Judges' Houses.
I've said it once and I'll say it again: with each performance, I feel more and more like Jay is going to be the Christopher Maloney of this season. He's either going to be loved or hated, with almost no room for middle ground. He's got a hell of a voice when he gets out of his dodgy openings. I get that it takes a while for a song to build, but his vocals are getting to be achingly overdramatic in the earlygoing, and it's kind of off-putting. I didn't think the song was a great choice for him either, although I admit that I can't think, off the top of my head, what song I would have recommended for him. Either way, I still expect him to get through on a combination of his backstory, overall likability, and the whole “actually being able to sing” thing, which not everyone in Simon's category can boast.
But what do you think of Jay James?

JAY JAMES is through to Live Shows!
I can't say I'm shocked, although I would have liked to have seen Helen get the nod. I like Jay now, but I imagine his overly affected style of performance is going to get pretty grating as the competition rolls on. And I expect him to be around for a while. Hell, given his backstory, his naked sentimentality, and his memorable (for better or worse) voice, he might actually be Simon's best chance at winning.
