Jamie Lee Curtis Cast As Lead in CBS Pilot

Jamie Lee Curtis is leaving the big screen behind to star on TV.

Curtis has been cast in an untitled medical pilot for CBS. The series comes from David Marshall Grant (Brothers & Sisters), and is based on an Israeli series, Ran Quartet.

Curtis will play the role of Caroline, a doctor-mom to quadruplets who grew up on a reality series. The drama is being eyed for a spot on the 2014-2015 broadcast schedule.

This will be the first TV role for Curtis since her arc as Dr. Samantha Ryan on NCIS in 2012, and her recurring role as Jess' mom on New Girl. However, the actress has remained busy in roles outside of guest spots and Activia commercials. She'll be appearing in the new Veronica Mars film, due to release in March. So it's good news all-around for the actress, who seems made for this sort of role. The premise sounds a bit melodramatic, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing. CBS needs a good primetime soap in the ABC fashion. And this might be it.
