James Franco Apologizes For Trying to Get With That Underaged Girl - VIDEO

The internet was abuzz yesterday when a 17-year-old girl revealed that James Franco tried to pick her up via Instagram. And now he's apologizing.

You know, because he tried to hook up with a teenager through social media and suggested they should get a hotel room together. Which was all documented by the Scottish teen and plastered on the internet.

Admitted Franco on Live! With Kelly and Michael today (April 4), "I'm embarrassed, and I guess I'm just a model of how social media is tricky. It's way that people meet each other today, but what I've learned -- I guess because I'm new to it -- is you don't know who's on the other end. You get a feel for them, you don't know who you're talking to. I used bad judgment and I learned my lesson."

"Unfortunately, in my position -- I mean, I have a very good life, but not only do I have to the embarrassing kind of rituals of meeting someone, but if I do that, then it gets published for the world. So now, it's double embarrassing."

Suffice it to say, this was all not a publicity stunt for his new movie as some assumed.
