James Cameron Will Make Next 3 'Avatar' Movies in New Zealand

Avatar

During a press conference with prime minister John Key, filmmaker James Cameron announced he would be making the next three "Avatar" movies in New Zealand. As part of an agreement with 20th Century FOX and the New Zealand government, the films will spend at least 412 million dollars in the nation.

He went on to say he still expects the films to be released on the previously announced dates. December 2016, December 2017, and December 2018 will see a new Avatar film.

Cameron will be filming the movies back to back in order to make that time frame possible.

I didn't even know we were getting an "Avatar" sequel. It's not surprising, however, seeing that it is the highest-grossing movie with $2.78 billion worldwide.
