Jake Gyllenhaal Hospitalized After Punching Mirror

Actor Jake Gyllenhaal was rushed to the hospital yesterday (Nov. 13) after punching a mirror on the set of his film Nightcrawler.

"Jake flipped out," a source on the set revealed. "His character was looking into a mirror during the scene and punched the mirror in anger and broke it, cutting himself so bad he had to be taken to a hospital."

Yet another source extrapolated on the incident, saying, "The scene was emotionally charged and his character was talking into a mirror and he got so into it, he banged his hands against the mirror and it broke and cut him. It was all the scene and not because he was mad about anything else."

He had also been filming for 18-hours at the time and the actor had been "starving himself" to lose 20 lbs for his role so there's that too.

As a result of the incident Gyllenhaal wound up getting stitches in the ER but returned to set once he was given the go-ahead that same day.
