Jai Rodriguez

First of all: OMG! Aaaaaaaaahhhhhh! Jai Rodriguez from Queer Eye!!!

He was very very nice and very very gay. He gets a lot of goodwill from me.

David Ray, Kobey Rose's daddy, woke me up this morning with a phone call inviting me to the ballet. Of course, I try not to turn down the ballet (or a nice guy like David) since I need to be cultured every once in a while, so I said yes and we had a date.

It was also an opportunity to visit the New York State Theater which always makes me teary-eyed. My mother once performed there before I was born and when I told her that I visited the theater once, she was very proud of the fact that she was the first Filipina to ever sing solo in that theater. For some reason when I look at the stage and take in my surroundings, I try to catch her singing voice that once filled the air here some 40 years ago. I would most likely sit there and wait forever if I could, until the walls finally told me their story about that one shining moment a long long time ago. Being there, will always be a profound experience for me I think.

I waited a bit for David outside the theater in Lincoln Center where Jai was also waiting for his date. I was reluctant at first because I couldn't really place this cute dude, until David arrived and said, Did you see Jai from Queer Eye? It didn't take long to muster up my legendary courage as I had my queer eye on him for sometime already and the picture-taking with a star of any magnitude was on!

The ballet was great, and David and I had dessert and tea, where he told me some great stories of his life in LA, New York and Miami.
