It's Official: Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Is Doc Savage
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson may have just found his first iconic role, as the actor has been cast in Doc Savage for writer/director Shane Black. And, needless to say, The Rock is PUMPED.
In an Instagram post, The Rock gushed about the role, describing Doc Savage as part-Superman, part-"F*CKING HILARIOUS WEIRDO". This seems to indicate the more bombastic direction Shane Black will take the series, which tells the story of Clark "Doc" Savage, the 1930s pulp fiction hero who's generally regarded as the world's first superhero, and the inspiration for Superman. Black has directed such films as Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Iron Man 3, and written such iconic action classics as Lethal Weapon and Predator, so he knows what he's doing when it comes to crafting a great action spectacle. Hell, he's even tackling 2018's Predator remake, just to bring that franchise full-circle. He's a man with a lot on his plate, but with a clear drive to see his vision brought to the screen. There's no release date on the table for Doc Savage just yet, but this is already shaping up to be a great pairing, what with an awesome action writer/director like Black leading the way, and a charismatic draw like The Rock as the star.
