I Dream of Halo

Played Halo all-weekend, including Friday. I am so horrible at this game, and yet I am so prone to addiction and I cannot put the darn thing down. At least, I have told myself on occasion, that I've made some friends. A couple of them are interesting. TheTenaciousD and BeyondTheFifty are cool, although, the best of the bunch FearedShadow has gone on to join a clan. At one point I felt guilty because I felt that I was bringing down the ratings of teammates, NIKKI NINE (in caps) and NERF DODGER (in caps), although they eventually found a pair who were better than I. Still, there were a couple of assholes on Xbox Live so I removed them from my friend's list. It was only after day three that I realized I had been playing with grade school kids. (Is it illegal to be playing with teenage boys on Xbox Live?)

Anyway, I have been dreaming about Halo for two nights now. Last night was pretty bad because I distinctly remember sleeping straight into the Zanzibar map (or was it Headlong?) I'm beginning to think I live in Zanzibar! What lies beyond the beach should I stray there in my ghost? What purpose is there other than to open the gates? Who will kill that goddam sniper in the cave?

It's pretty bad. This wouldn't have happened if I was not too depressed. And yet here we are. The first step of course is admission, so I am well on the road to full recovery.

Oh, and another side effect of playing Halo 2 is that I'm now sleeping in the nude. Hooray for me.

Meanwhile, I am 1/10 done with my novel. It's so delayed, but it's been kind of fun. I didn't realize that fiction could be interesting. I'm surprised that I'm sorta surviving the writing process even if I'm slow. Read T360
