The Howling Commandos Are Coming to 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Season 2

Captain America may not be a cast member of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but his former World War II unit is headed to the show.

Neal McDonough and Kenneth Choi will cameo as Dum Dum Dugan and Jim Morita, respectively, in the Season 2 premiere of the ABC drama. They will appear alongside Hayley Atwell, who will reprise her role as Agent Peggy Carter from Captain America: The First Avenger. The premiere, "Shadows", will feature a flashback to Carter's past in the 1940s, all in the service of getting audiences ready for Agent Carter, which will premiere on ABC during the midseason break for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in January 2015.

However, while The Howling Commandos will appear on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., it is unknown if they will also appear in the Agent Carter spinoff. But even while they haven't been confirmed or denied for a role, it doesn't seem out of the question after a role here. If nothing else, a crossover appearance could help further build Marvel's Television Universe, which is tied to the Cinematic Universe to which all these properties are linked. It's pretty impressive how Marvel is able to keep all these continuities straight, and maintain a synergistic relationship between the movies and TV shows. It should be interesting to see how Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. builds on the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and how it leads into Agent Carter.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns for Season 2 on Tuesday, September 23rd in its new 9:00 PM ET time slot.
