House of Lies - Season 2 Episode 7 - Recap - The Runner Stumbles

Here’s the recap for Season 2 Episode 7 of House of Lies: “The Runner Stumbles” on Showtime!

"Get ready to swell asshole," is Jeannie's (Kristen Bell) way of getting it all out on the table. Marty (Don Cheadle) steps out and let's the kiddos watch Jeannie's vintage sex tape. Not only is the tape a huge disaster, Jeannie's self esteem was chipped at again because everyone turned down the viewing opportunity.

The POD is on project with USNB and this time the whole team is reviewing the company to make sure Criswell (Michael McDonald) is clean, i.e. able to run for political office. This not so straight edge team is finally challenged with a huge moral dilemma. One that sits on Marty's shoulders. So in keeping with his word Marty throws in the towel after putting all the puzzle pieces together and realized this is why he was chosen for this account from the beginning.

It's Marty against Criswell and his right hand Ms. Reagan (Marty's fuck buddy) battling over the future of the "ghetto" loans that could take down USNB. Marty takes this opportunity to follow through with his plan to leave Galweather and Stern to start... Kaan and Associates. And to top that he was able to twist the story of the true nature of the ghetto loans to pin it on another member of the company, while walking away with an investment (and an endorsement) from USNB. Marty has officially signed up his first client, USNB.

Jeannie, Doug (Josh Lawson) and Clyde (Ben Schwartz) all stand by as Marty absolves Criswell. Jeannie tries to talk some sense into Marty but to no avail he is still moving forward.

If the stress couldn't get worse for Marty he is welcomed home by his Pop (Glynn Turman) and brother (Larenz Tate). Marty heads out for a run to get away from the craziness and give himself some space. On this "peaceful" run, Marty is tracked down by the police and beat down in what we think is going to be an episode of racial profiling.
