Showtime is bringing back one of its most popular series as well as one of its most promising new series.

The network has announced it has renewed Homeland for a fourth season, and Masters of Sex for a second season.

Homeland is currently in its third year, and is currently in the middle of a season that is as critically divisive as the show is popular. However, the show continues to turn in remarkable performances from Claire Danes, Mandy Patinkin, and F. Murray Abraham, all of have done a hell of a job making the absence of Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) far less glaring than it would have been with a less talented ensemble.

Meanwhile, Masters of Sex, currently in the middle of its first season, has seen near-universal acclaim from critics and audiences alike. In particular, the performances by Michael Sheen and Lizzie Caplan have been generating early Emmy buzz for next year, and the series itself is drawing Mad Men comparisons, at least in terms of its potential to become an enduring, popular prestige series.

Both shows will return next fall on Showtime.
