Hiking the Pine Meadow Lake Trail with My Dog CJ - Hike and Hound - Video
CJ and I went on a hike today! I signed up for another "Hike and Hound" group hike with Discover Outdoors, a site which organizes "adventure trips" like hiking, kayaking, camping, etc. for people in New York City.
For the price of a rental car for a day, your dog is driven to the destination, gets to run around in the woods, swim in a lake and socialize with other dogs -- plus she gets to do that with you!
This is our second time to go on this hike to Pine Meadow Lake at Harriman State Park. CJ and I went last month for her birthday but this was a better trip than that overall. For one thing, there were only two dogs and three humans on the trip which made for a more intimate experience.
The other dog, Leia who was on her first trip also for her birthday, was a German Shepherd and I was a bit concerned when I first saw her because CJ is scared of German Shepherds. She's been docking her tail for a while now every time she sees one in the city. She did the same thing when she saw Leia, but after a few sniffs, they immediately bonded. On the hike, they formed their "pack" running around the trail and played with each other for the whole trip. It's amazing how they just clicked.
CJ is also such a "social butterfly" now. She greeted everyone she saw on the hike. I think I need to have a word with CJ actually. I need her to sniff out a future romantic interest for me in the crowd. She can be my icebreaker.
Anyway, I might go on a few more hikes this summer, and hopefully improve my video taking skills. CJ running around in full sprint through the trees is just magic to me.
