Hell’s Kitchen - Season 10 Episode 8 - Recap - 12 Chefs Compete
Last night, the Blue Team wanted to eliminate Clemenza... but Guy was axed instead. Tonight, Clemenza proved himself a worthy chef and contestant. I’m starting to really root for this guy. Brian, Dana, and Christina have also shot to the top of my bracket in these last few episodes... they’re funny, likeable, and real. The producers even invited three Michelin Star Chefs AND superstars Sugar Ray Leonard and Tito Ortiz to Hell’s Kitchen! Also in this episode, Robyn annoyed the life out of Sugar Ray Leonard and Patrick showed his true, shady colors. If you missed Episode 7, you can read my recap here.
Challenge of the Day:
4 domes were laid out on the Red Kitchen counter and 4 domes were laid out on the Blue Kitchen counter. Each contestant grabbed a protein component from the first dome; then, they grabbed ingredients from the next three domes to compliment their specific protein. For example, if a contestant chose lobster, (s)he chose ingredients to compliment their lobster. Finally, the chefs presented their individual dishes to three Michelin Star Chefs (who were also judges for today’s challenge). They graded each dish on a scale of 1 to 3 stars. 3 Michelin Star Chefs / Judges for Today’s Challenge:- Anita Lo
- Douglas Keene
- Michael Cimarusti
The Blue Team members are: Royce, Justin, Brian, Patrick, Clemenza, Roshni. They also had a few face-palm moments and a couple wow moments in today’s challenge. Here is Face-Palm moment #1: Clemenza put too much spice in his dish; here is Face-Palm moment #2: Roshni served dry turkey; and finally, here is Face-Palm moment #3: Royce served a lobster dish with the sack still in tact. It also included a 12-inch long strand of hair. Since this particular dish came from the Blue Kitchen, I’m assuming the strand of hair belonged to Roshni, Patrick, or Clemenza since they have long-length hair. My suggestion would be for them to wear hair nets next time. Please and thank you. Here are the Wow moments: Brian cooked perfect veal chops; and, the Michelin chefs approved of Patrick’s pork tenderloin dish. Royce, without a doubt, lost the challenge for the Blue Team. The Blue Team received 29 out of a possible 54 stars for all six of their dishes.
Result: The Red Team won by a score of 30 to 29 stars. Ouch. That was a close score. Their reward: They had a Spa Day AND they each received a Meyer’s Cookware Set.
The Red Team are now 5 for 7 in challenges. The Blue Team are 2 for 7.Tonight’s Dinner Service:
Both teams cooked and prepared food from the usual menu... and they also added Christina’s lobster dish (from the challenge) to tonight’s menu. Two special guests were invited to tonight’s dinner service: Sugar Ray Leonard and Tito Ortiz. Assigned Waiters:- Red Team: Robyn (in charge of hosting Sugar Ray Leonard)
- Blue Team: Justin (in charge of hosting Tito Ortiz)
The Blue Team didn’t serve an entree tonight. Chef Ramsay ordered all six Blue Team members to get out of the kitchen. Brian was on and off on the risotto as well: he handed Chef Ramsay soupy risotto the first time, and then he cooked the risotto perfectly the second time. Patrick handed Chef Ramsay stone cold lobster twice; and, Roshni handed Ramsay raw wellington. Also, Robyn seated Tito Ortiz right next to the Blue Kitchen... so Tito was having a ball snickering at the Blue Team contestants. Once every minute or so, the cameraman zoomed in on Tito’s face only to show us that he was enjoying Ramsay’s manic outbursts. I am so happy one of the cameramen caught Tito’s facial expressions on camera. That totally made the episode for me. To top that off, Tito took out his smartphone and video-recorded the final antics going on in the Blue Kitchen before they were kicked out. Here is a sour note from tonight’s episode: In last night’s recap, I mentioned that I am beginning to dislike Patrick. Well...the more he is featured in the episodes, the more I dislike him as a contestant. My perspective of him has changed. He went from being my favorite to one of my least favorites. He talks the talk, but doesn’t walk the walk. He showed his true colors tonight: he is shady and a coward. He doesn’t like Clemenza, but told Clemenza that he is happy to still have him around. He also nominated Brian and Clemenza for elimination in hopes of taking the steam off of himself and Roshni. I am now discovering that Patrick has multiple personalities: he plays the victim card around his teammates, but manipulatively plays the game behind the scenes.
The Blue Team are now 4 for 7 in dinner services. The Red Team are also 4 for 7. The Dinner Service score is tied up now.
Result: The Blue Team lost tonight. They nominated Brian and Clemenza for elimination. Chef Ramsay knew this was B.S., so he overrided these nominations. Ramsay nominated Patrick and Roshni for elimination... he eliminated Roshni.

Roshni is a very nice woman, but her elimination wasn’t shocking. Although she signed up to be on Hell’s Kitchen for the right reasons, she unfortunately made too many mistakes throughout the course of the show. I wish her the best of luck. She just needs a teeny bit more experience... and with a thicker skin, she can definitely shine in the future. Good luck Roshni! I will be rooting for you.
11 chefs remain. The next episode airs Monday, 7/2, at 8pm ET.
