Hell’s Kitchen - Season 10 Episode 2 - Recap - 17 Chefs Compete

In the premiere episode, we learned this season’s winner will become head chef at Gordon Ramsay’s Steak House in Las Vegas, NV. I thought Robyn was nice last night .... but she was straight up mean tonight; she instigates many arguments on the Red Team. I don’t think she will be able to survive three more episodes.

Last night, Blue Team member Tavon was eliminated from Hell’s Kitchen. I think Chef Ramsay made the right choice. Zero entrees were served at last night’s dinner service because Tavon didn’t properly slice the scallops.

Challenge of the Day: Prepare 6 scallop dishes.

The Red Team members are: Robyn, Tiffany, Roshni, Danielle, Kimmie, Barbie, Briana, Dana, Christina. For this particular challenge, they focused more on the execution (i.e. beauty, taste) of the dish. Their strategy worked.

The Blue Team members are: Don, Guy, Royce, Justin, Brian, Chris, Patrick, Clemenza. They were more focused on getting the scallops to Chef Ramsay as quickly as possible. Their strategy backfired.

Result: The Red Team won by a score of 6 to 2 dishes. Their reward: A trip to Catalina Island with Chef Ramsay.

I can’t believe the Blue Team lost another challenge. I hope they get it together next week. I will be cheering them on.

Dinner Service: Tonight’s Menu included a Shrimp Scampi Appetizer.

The Red Team performed poorly tonight, to say the least. They were sending out raw dishes from uncooked lamb chops to uncooked shrimp scampi. They failed to serve a single entree two hours into dinner service. Chef Ramsay ordered them to shut everything down and leave the kitchen. This was so disappointing to watch. They should focus more on cooking the meat, as opposed to thinking about how fast they can finish up in the kitchen. Quality > Quantity in the kitchen. Remember that, ladies.

The Blue Team didn’t perform any better. They were also kicked out of their kitchen after failing to properly cook steak. Oh the irony. Chef Ramsay is opening up a brand-new steak house, but these contestants can’t cook steak. How terrible.

These contestants have got to get their act together! Stat! They have already failed to serve a single entree. In two episodes, nonetheless. I don’t recall seeing this before! I am hoping to see at least one entree served next week.

Result: According to Chef Gordon Ramsay, the Red Team “The Sinking Ship” AND the Blue Team “The Runaway Train” both lose tonight. Four names were submitted for elimination: Barbie and Roshni (from the Red Team), Chris and Royce (from the Blue Team). Ramsay eliminates Chris.

What. Just. Happened?? I am surprised Chris was eliminated. I don’t think he was that great in the kitchen; but, I didn’t want to see him go. He is a nice guy. For the purposes of this show, I guess he had to go. :( Also, by no means am I a fan of Barbie’s, but I would rather see Robyn or Tiffany eliminated next week. They are soooo getting on my last nerve. They are way too violent for my taste. My first impression of Robyn was dead wrong; Tiffany, on the other hand, I was never a fan of.

Have the producers upped the drama this season or what? I wonder where they find such foolish contestants each season. Albeit the idiocy I just witnessed in this episode, this show still gives me the adrenaline rush I’ve been wanting to feel from a TV show all year long! My favorite part of Hell’s Kitchen is to see Chef Ramsay get angry. Cooking is his passion and chosen profession, so he expects to see perfection in that kitchen. [Hey, I just made a rhyme! :)]

16 chefs remain. The next episode airs Monday, 6/11, at 8pm ET.
