Hell’s Kitchen - Season 10 Episode 15 - Recap - 7 Chefs Compete
In the fifteenth episode of Hell’s Kitchen Season 10, “7 Chefs Compete,” Chef Ramsay introduced six black jackets! 6 of the remaining 7 contestants received a black jacket tonight. In the realm of Hell’s Kitchen, black jackets are supposed to represent the cream of the crop—the best of the best. There was a shocker tonight though: Robyn got a black jacket. I was definitely shocked to see that!
Who was eliminated instead? Find out here:

Challenge of the Day:
This was a communication-relay challenge. Each team cooked 3 stunning dishes from the regular menu: Risotto, Cod, and Lamb. One contestant from each team went into the kitchen for 5 minutes. After their 5 minutes was up, they had 15 seconds to tell their team member what to cook. They rotated team members every 5 minutes until a total of 30 minutes elapsed. Which team was more precise?Rotations:
Red Team Blue Team
Dana Justin
Christina Clemenza
Barbie Brian
Dana Robyn
Christina Justin
Barbie Clemenza
The Red Team members are: Barbie, Dana, Christina. The Risotto was smoky and burnt—it looked like a football; the Cod Fish was raw; and the Lamb Chop wasn’t sliced properly.
The Blue Team members are: Justin, Brian, Clemenza, Robyn. Their Risotto was crunchy—it looked like a frisbee; they left out some key ingredients in their Cod Fish; and the Lamb Chop looked terrible. Robyn’s communication was all over the place, and Clemenza was moving too slow during the challenge.
Result: For the first time in the history of Hell’s Kitchen, both teams lost the challenge. The overall score was Red 0 - Blue 0. Neither team scored a point. They missed out on a helicopter ride to Malibu where they would’ve been chilling at a beach club. Their punishment was to clean the front entrance and to clean the inside & outside of the SUV’s. Red Team member Dana said it best: “Hell’s Kitchen Season 10 making history!... Only, we’re making history because we suck.”
Gosh. This season is awful. Sigh.
The Red Team are now 6 for 12 in challenges. The Blue Team, however, are 5 for 12.Tonight’s Dinner Service:
Chef Ramsay made himself clear before opening hours saying, “I’m not waiting until the end of service to get rid of dead wood.” Tonight’s dinner service was supposed to be about redemption. Ramsay only had 6 jackets in his hands, so 1 person had to go home tonight. The Red Team did well tonight. However there were a couple missteps: Christina was on and off tonight with the Risotto. At one point, she seasoned the Risotto perfectly... but during another occasion, she burnt the Risotto and mixed the old Risotto with the new. Dana sauteed 3 Cod Fish in three different pans (when she should’ve just used one pan). But overall, they had a good dinner service. Barbie was the strongest on the Red Team tonight. Chef Ramsay immediately gave Barbie, Dana, and Christina black jackets.
The Blue Team started off well, but hit a speed bump towards the middle of the service. At the beginning of the service, Clemenza and Justin cooked great spaghetti! But, it all went south from there. Clemenza simultaneously cooked 5 Risotto, and then handed Chef Ramsay Muti-colored Risotto: 1 Light color, 1 Dark color, and 1 In-Between color. Robyn put Spinach in the oven (Seriously, Robyn? Who does that?). Justin reheated the old batch of Tripe. Brian served raw New York Strip and raw Wellington... it got so bad that Chef Ramsay asked Red Team member Barbie to take over Brian’s meat station. Barbie cooked excellent New York Strip and Wellington—she finished the Blue Team’s orders. The Blue Team lost the dinner service.
Result: The Blue Team lost. Chef Ramsay asked them to nominate two people for elimination, but they couldn’t come to a consensus... so they nominated three people: Clemenza, Brian, and Robyn. Chef Ramsay was appalled that they couldn’t complete a simple task of choosing two people for elimination, so he nominated all 4 Blue Team members for elimination. Of these four contestants, Ramsay eliminated Brian.

The Blue Team are now 4 for 12 in dinner services. The Red Team, however, are 6 for 12.
The contestants that received black jackets are: Christina, Dana, Barbie, Justin, Clemenza, and Robyn.
Seriously, Ramsay? This was a terrible decision. Yes... Brian did mess up the Wellington and New York Strip. But, you CANNOT tell me he is worse than Robyn. NO EFFIN’ WAY. I know this is just another TV show, but I’m pissed! Robyn is clearly the weakest link. I miss Brian already :( [He’s not a great cook, but he is one hell of a comedian! He’s awesome! <3]
That’s just unacceptable. Sorry, Ramsay.
I was optimistic before the episode begun... but tonight, Robyn made everybody miserable (viewers included).
I’m actually looking forward to Ramsay’s new show, Hotel Hell. The promo videos look fun!
I cannot say the same about this season of Hell’s Kitchen, though. Season 10 is just awful.Chef Ramsay’s Quotes of the Night:
“The sauce is disgusting. It looks like something out of a gas station. Nasty.” - Chef Ramsay referring to the Blue Team’s lamb sauce from the challenge.“Did you slice the lamb or did you chew the lamb?” - Chef Ramsay asking the Red Team what happened to their lamb chop during the challenge.
“You’re a smart girl, yet common sense is not your forte.” - Chef Ramsay speaking to Dana because she cooked 3 Cod Fish in three different pans during the dinner service.
6 chefs remain. I think Hell’s Kitchen will be on a hiatus for a few weeks. I’m pretty sure the next episode won’t air until Monday, 8/13, at 9pm ET. Tune in then.
