Hell’s Kitchen - Season 10 Episode 13 - Recap - 9 Chefs Compete, Part 2

In the thirteenth episode of Hell’s Kitchen Season 10, “9 Chefs Compete, Part 2,” neither team performed up to Chef Ramsay’s standards. None of the contestants impressed him. Not even usual top-performers: Justin and Christina. I thought the contestants would be at their best tonight since they designed their own menus... but the complete opposite happened. They dug themselves deeper into a gigantic hole.

And, what’s pinker than Paris Hilton’s lipstick?

If you missed Episode 12, you can read my recap here.

Tonight’s Menu:

Red Team’s Menu Consisted of:
  • Flat Bread
  • Rib Eye
  • Potato Gratin
Blue Team’s Menu Consisted of:
  • Scallop-Stuffed Squash Blossoms
  • Steak and Fried Onions
  • Sea Bass

Tonight’s Dinner Service:

Chef Ramsay opened up tonight’s dinner service saying, “Tonight’s the night. I could feel it in the air.” (Oh, Gordon Ramsay.. how wrong you were). For tonight’s dinner service, James (the resident waiter) handed each customer a comment card. Each customer scribbled their individual comments and ranked each dish from Best to Worst.

The Red Team members are: Tiffany, Kimmie, Barbie, Dana, Christina. The Red Team had more drama and mistakes than ever before. Kimmie handed Chef Ramsay dry, overcooked Duck, which prompted Ramsay to say, “You’re f***ing menu, my standards. That’s not good enough!”; Dana served raw Lobster; Tiffany prepared Fish Garnish in a used, dirty pan AND she served raw Potatoes. Dana said, “Tiffany is definitely a little gross. She’s nasty.” Also, Sous Chef Andi said to Tiffany, “You’re the blondiest cook I’ve ever seen in my whole entire life! You have such a f***ing attitude. Why don’t you take a walk. Dana, take over Tiffany’s station.” Sous Chef Andi and Red Team member Dana have just verbalized my thoughts on Tiffany since Episode 2. Tiffany just doesn’t care.... she is not passionate about cooking. And her attitude sucks big time. Surprisingly, the Red Team were not kicked out of their kitchen.

The Blue Team members are: Justin, Brian, Clemenza, Robyn. The Blue Team got off to a rough start. Unfortunately, they didn’t improve over the course of tonight’s dinner service. Chef Ramsay yelled at them. And yelled. And yelled.... until he became too fed up. He kicked them out of the kitchen just before they finished their last ticket. Justin handed Chef Ramsay mushy and undercooked Scallop-Stuffed Squash Blossoms; Robyn ran out of Scallops; Brian forgot to put onions in the Steak and Fried Onions dish; Clemenza lied about cooking Sea Bass (he wasn’t cooking any fish); Justin overcooked the Rib Eye steak; and Brian handed Ramsay raw Sea Bass Fish. Sous Chefs Scott and Andi finished cooking the Blue Team’s last ticket. Here are my thoughts: I think Robyn ruined the Blue Team’s chemistry. The boys seem more miserable now than before Robyn joined their team. Robyn is annoying; however, she doesn’t annoy me as much as Kimmie and Tiffany (from the Red Team) do.

Result: Chef Ramsay ripped up the comment cards! Both teams lost tonight. Four names were submitted for elimination: Tiffany and Barbie (from the Red Team) and Robyn and Clemenza (from the Blue Team). Ramsay eliminated Tiffany.

The Blue Team are now 4 for 10 in dinner services. The Red Team, however, are 5 for 10.

This was absolutely the correct decision. Although... if I were in Chef Ramsay’s position, I would’ve had a triple elimination: Tiffany + Kimmie + Robyn = Annoying. Did I mention they are annoying? They’re more annoying than Conda from The Biggest Loser Season 13!... And that’s saying a lot. There are 3 villains this season.

The editors are doing a fantastic job with the background music and subtle sound bites here and there; BUT, the casting call producers have done a sub-par job of casting for this season. I hope they find a better cast for Season 11.

I’ve only watched four seasons of Hell’s Kitchen: Seasons 1, 2, 3, and 10. Were Seasons 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, & 9 any better? Are Seasons 4-9 worth it? The only person I remember from the first three seasons is Rock from Season 3.

Chef Ramsay’s Quotes of the Night:

“It’s like a golfball.” - Chef Ramsay referring to Brian’s onion rings.

“It’s pinker inside than Paris Hilton’s lipstick!” - Chef Ramsay referring to Dana’s raw lobster.

“I will nail you to the f***ing post!” - Chef Ramsay yelling at Clemenza because he lied about cooking Sea Bass (when in actuality, he wasn’t cooking it).

“Your menu, your creativity, your execution, your teamwork [was disappointing].” - Chef Ramsay speaking to all 9 contestants about their poor performance tonight.

This season is heading down to the wire. 8 chefs remain. The next episode airs Monday, 7/23, at 8pm ET.

Thanks for reading this recap! I will see you guys next Monday.
